As a makeup artist for over 20 years, I look at makeup as an art form, and a form of art therapy. Through in-depth research into other mindfulness techniques such as self-touch, combined with art therapy, I've created a beautiful mindfulness therapy to help you really reconnect with yourself. My approach through Makeup Touch Therapy, helps to calm your central nervous system, switching your system over to the parasympathetic rest and repair mode. Overriding the sympathetic fight or flight mode, which fuels inflammation and pain in the body. During our 2 hour one-on-one class, we'll start with a breathing exercise, then move into the art-based techniques of Makeup Touch Therapy, using gentle sensory touch to activate a pleasure response in the body, then finishing with a beautiful mantra to practice at home. All my sessions are one-on-one via Zoom. The power of light pleasant touch on the face, and engaging in the creativity of makeup (art on your face), works on a neuroplastic level. You may not feel the benefits straight away, but this class is so beneficial to help rewire the nociceptors (pain signals) firing off throughout your system - over time, dialing down your pain.
